IT SNOWED IN THE MOJAVE DESERT & TOOK SOME PHOTOS
It is my second winter living in Las Vegas and I have to say it does not get as cold compared to other places I have lived before. I have a heavy winter coat and I have not used it since living here.
This year was a little colder than what I remember compared to my first Winter and was surprised to wakeup one day and see snow on my car. The first thing that came to mind is I need to go to take some photos of Red Rock and I want to share some of them.
DAY TIME SHOOT AT RED ROCK
Here is some of the photos I took during the day. I just drove to Red Rock, but unfortunately the park was close due to the snow. So I took all the photos from outside the Scenic Route.
Even from a distance I can see some of my the trails that I have done. Below you can see the Pine Creek Canyon. Clearly visible is Mescalito rock peaking through being visible.
Another great shot I took was of the Red Rock’s Calico Basin. The cloudiness of the sky along with the snow on the ground really made the red Calico Basin stand out. Also visible on the right of it is
After a few days the snow started receding towards the mountain were the temperature is lower. Between Mount Wilson and Rainbow Mountain You can see the canyon that feeds Oak Creek Spring.
Snow covered desert foliage is very interesting to see. It almost seems like an oxymoron, but yet it is a beautiful site to admire.
Watching the sunlight scream through the clouds, right before darkness, gave a great effect on on the canyons below and the flat valley below.
Overall, I had fun being out there and enjoying the view through the evening and as the sun was setting. I had to continue my photoshoot late at night.
NIGHT TIME SHOOT AT RED ROCK
A few days later I noticed the snow was melting and there was some a full moon. Therefore, I decided to go back to Red Rock at midnight and capture and practice some night photography.
The scenery was spectacular! I was enjoying how the moonlight was showing the mountain’s shadowy ridges and illuminating the white snow.
Even at a distance deep into Red Rock The White Hills can be seen without snow while the Ridge behind it is still littered with snow. This gave and interesting contrast of the valley.
The night time photo shoot ended a little earlier than expected due to my camera not being fully charged.
I keep telling myself I need to buy spare batteries for my camera, but I keep forgetting to order it.
CONCLUSION
Nature is a great thing we are surrounded by. Many times you can find yourself looking and exploring to find the best panoramic views. One of the best times to get out and explore is when something out of the ordinary occurs near you. Do not be afraid and step outside to enjoy those moments and make some memories with your loved ones.
What are the best types of memories you have had? Leave a comment below and I’ll respond to it as soon as I can.

I think the best are those that I do not document, so that they remain safe only in my memory.Great post!
